Transportation Optimization and Network Design Manager

The Transportation Network Optimization Manager is responsible for driving improvements in supply chain and transportation network performance through advanced analytics, modeling, and operational strategy. This role focuses on optimizing transportation networks, improving route efficiency, reducing operational costs, and enhancing service performance. The individual will analyze complex transportation data, develop optimization models, and partner with internal teams and external partners to implement data-driven logistics strategies that improve network productivity and profitability.
Responsibilities
Network Modeling & Optimization
- Develop and maintain advanced network models to analyze and optimize transportation flows, routing strategies, and logistics network design.
- Utilize analytical and optimization tools to evaluate network scenarios, identify improvement opportunities, and enhance operational efficiency and resilience.
- Design and implement transportation optimization strategies that improve delivery performance while minimizing cost and operational complexity.
- Evaluate route planning methodologies to maximize driver productivity, asset utilization, and network throughput.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of transportation, routing, and operational data to identify inefficiencies and performance gaps.
- Translate complex data sets into actionable insights and recommendations that drive operational improvements and cost savings.
- Partner with internal stakeholders including supply chain planning, procurement, operations, and technology teams to align transportation strategies with business objectives.
- Collaborate with external partners such as carriers, third-party logistics providers (3PLs), and technology vendors to support network performance and KPI attainment.
- Identify opportunities to enhance driver productivity, improve network utilization, and increase revenue opportunities across the transportation network.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through analytics, modeling, and operational experimentation.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transportation, Operations Research, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in transportation analytics, network optimization, and quantitative problem solving.
- Experience with data analysis, modeling tools, and optimization methodologies such as linear programming or simulation modeling.
- Ability and willingness to learn and become a subject matter expert in proprietary transportation optimization platforms and systems.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and translate findings into practical operational solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively engage cross-functional teams and external partners.
